Did I Just Found a Bug on Nokia 6233 in 2025?

See at my main website here

Long story short, my dad was never keep tons of music in this phone’s SD card, which is only about 2 GB. He also uses AAC instead of MP3 to store the music inside so it could fit more music. Obviously he left some space for photos and videos.

Recently, I mean, just about now, I tried cramming some of my collections to the SD card. It almost reach 95% of the space including around 40 photos and 3 episodes of MyGO and Ave Mujica in 3GP. When I checked the counter, it’s about 292 songs.

Within the player, I can jump straight to certain song which have been sorted out in numbers. When I choose the 286th song, it’s actually going to play the 30th song. I tried it back, it does the same thing. I thought it was an error with the file, so I check it again on my computer and it was fine.

I tried with other songs within the same source folder, it does the same. And it seems the second song when I press play on the first one is kinda ordered in certain way. 286 to 30, 287 to 31, and so on.

So I tried something, play the 256th song. And it just play it back just fine, no redirect whatsoever. And when I play the 257th song, it goes back to the 1st one. And when I tried to navigate with the next and back button from the 1st song to 292nd song, it’s fine. From 256th to 257th, it’s fine.

Seems like the playlist inside the music player of Nokia 6233 only recognize 256 songs to navigate to, which is 2^8.

Obviously there will be no software update like we got today on out modern smartphone, it’s a feature phone from 2006. But it will just gonna stays like and seems like the phone really prevents me for having too much songs on my pocket. iPod Classic wins, I guess.
